Tony joined A&G as a consultant in early 2020, bringing more than two decades of global experience in corporate finance, capital allocation strategies, retail operations, acquisitions/dispositions, and retail and restaurant real estate. His key areas of expertise are in negotiations for dispositions, restructurings, and mitigation of leased and fee-owned real estate, both in and out of bankruptcy. He is also well versed in managing expansion for growth-minded retail and restaurant companies via retrofits, relocations and new site development.
Over his career, Tony negotiated over $500 million in lease savings. He has also orchestrated numerous new store locations, lease terminations, relocations, excess land givebacks, and space downsizings or expansions to meet various clients’ needs. Working with Borders, he was responsible for the wind-down of Borders and Waldenbooks real estate and operations as well as asset sales of overseas companies by the company. Clients Tony has worked with as a part of the A&G team include Rite Aid, Party City, GNC, Guitar Center, Chico's, Christmas Tree Shops, David's Bridal, West Marine, Equinox and Blink Fitness, 24-Hour Fitness, TooJay's and McNellie's.
Prior to becoming affiliated with A&G, Tony held several executive positions in retail and manufacturing, including serving as a member of the Corporate Development team at Owens Corning in Toledo, OH, where he focused on all aspects of global acquisition, divestiture, and corporate strategy projects. Tony's vast experience includes all facets of running organizations including support functions such as human resources, sales and marketing and accounting, he's also overseen operations and facility management and as well as having the fiduciary responsibilities of being a CFO including investing and capital allocation activities.
Tony currently serves on advisory boards for both Northern United Brewing Company and Avalon International Breads. He holds an MBA in corporate finance and accounting from Michigan State University, as well as a BS in electrical engineering from Michigan State where he was also a member of the varsity football team.
